Custom Envelopes from China: While in full acquisition mode, we sent out thousands of letters per week to obtain off-market properties. Using custom envelopes instead of traditional business ones improved our open rate.
To save money, I ordered them directly from China, opting for an "AirMail" style with brown kraft paper.
Custom Size: 146*223mm, 70g Brown Kraft Paper Envelopes with Your Own Logo 70g - Brown Kraft Paper
Cost: $780 + $230 for shipping (20k envelopes) = $0.05 per envelope
The savings are not huge per envelope, but it adds up when you are sending thousands of pieces per month.
I would not use these same envelopes for commercial deals. We've also ordered bubbly silver envelopes from China, as well as printed our brand book in China at $4 a piece when we were quoted $30 per book domestically. Will post about that later.
